23 Barrels Delivered

Thanks to Jordan Jones & Goulding we have now surpassed our goal of 20 barrels! A couple of weeks ago they took an additional 5 barrels - one for each floor of the office and one for their satellite location. They had a competition among floors to see which can fill their barrel the fastest.

Jordan Jones & Goulding was started in 1958 and has built its success on client-focused solutions for water, wastewater, land, transportation and environmental engineering. They strive to improve quality of life, protect natural resources and better the environment we all live in by building longstanding relationships with the communities they serve. Based in metro Atlanta, JJG has offices in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, Ohio, and Indiana.
We will soon have an update on the amount of pounds of food we have collected!

Full Barrels Collected And More Delivered

Thank you to Cooper Carry and EMCOR Services Aircond for their full barrels now donated to Food Bank!

We collected an overflowing barrel from Cooper Carry just a little over a month after they received it.

EMCOR Services Aircond successfully filled three barrels. Their total amount collected came to 214 pounds.

This brings us to over 500 pounds collected thus far!

We have also now delivered barrels to Multicast Media Netoworks, Alsco Inc., and Jordan Jones & Goulding, Bunzl Distribution, Greenberg Farrow, and Lord's Computer Group.

18 barrels officially delivered and 7 full barrels collected. We are hoping to push over our goal of 20 barrels by the end of this week!

Big Thanks to Habif Arogeti & Wynne

We want to give a big thank you to Habif Arogeti & Wynne, where they filled 4 barrels for the Atlanta Community Food Bank last week. HA&W partners and employees contributed the following for the food drive:

179 canned goods
56 packages of noodles, rice, etc...
6 gallons of juice
6 boxes of cereal and
11 jars of peanut butter

This totaled up to 250 pounds of goods, which is the most we have collected from one company thus far. They also had several partners and employees participate in a volunteer night, where they went to the Food Bank and sorted 7,284 pounds of food. This equates to 4,856 meals for the community!
Thanks again HA&W!

Over Half Way There

This week we officially crossed the half way mark of our goal of 20 barrels.

Last week Bull Realty requested a barrel. Founded in 1998, Bull Realty is a privately owned commercial brokerage firm. Based in Atlanta, Ga., the company holds licenses and markets properties in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina, West Virginia and Mississippi. The firm’s broker teams specialize in providing strategic solutions to help clients buy and sell office, retail, land, industrial, multi-family and medical properties. Bull Realty is well known for its innovative marketing platform, which uses technology and the Internet to create intense buyer demand locally, nationally and internationally.

This week Multicast Media Networks also accepted a barrel. Multicast is an expert in the delivery of live and on-demand video content over the Internet. They have powered online channels by presenting an integrated system for the management of digital content, program scheduling, merchandising, interactive video and audio-broadcast services, e-commerce, and precise measurement of user behavior and viewership. Serving over 1,000 customers around the world, Multicast has defined itself as an industry leader in delivering online video.

These next few months are the busiest time for the Food Bank. School is out and the need for food is present. We are hoping to deliver at least 9 more barrels and start collecting full barrels as soon as possible.

4 More Barrels Delivered

This was another good week for our project with the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Whether they are able to take a barrel right now or not, everyone that is responding has been very supportive.

Today I was able to deliver 3 barrels to EMCOR Services/Aircond, the largest commercial and industrial HVAC service company in the Southeast. They have been delivering HVAC solutions to businesses for more than 70 years. They have also made a goal of filling the barrels by June 5th.

JAS Forwarding USA, Inc. also joined our efforts to help the Food Bank by taking a barrel today. JAS is a leader in the freight forwarding market. Their objective is simple; deliver the client’s product safely and on time. Through this they have seen rapid growth and success, becoming a global corporation with more than 150 offices worldwide.

We are looking forward to even more progress next week!

We are delivering barrels

We made some great progress this week with our efforts to help the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Cooper Carry Inc., a successful and innovative architectural firm headquartered in Atlanta, is now participating in our efforts. I delivered a barrel to them on Thursday.

We have also received great support from Georgia's largest independent certified public accounting and business advisory firm, Habif, Arogeti and Wynne, LLP. They will start filling four barrels early next week.

This brings us to 5 barrels delivered and at least 15 more to go.

First Calls for ACFB

This week was just the beginning of calls to help the Atlanta Community Food Bank. I have started by trying to reach out to HR Managers. After a lot of voicemails, I had a great conversation with someone at a large Healthcare Company. They are already big supporters of the Food Bank with monetary donations and employee volunteers. This was definitely an encouraging call to keep moving forward. I’m hoping to talk directly with several more managers next week and deliver our first barrels!

Accountants One is doing our part. We have a collection barrel located in our lobby for employees and candidates to bring in the donations for the Food Bank.

Accountants One partners with the Atlanta Community Food Bank

Welcome. This is my first blog in efforts to record the progress we are going to make in working with The Atlanta Community Food Bank. Accountants One (A1) is beginning a new outreach project, in conjunction with our philosophy of helping the community.

The Food Bank is currently distributing over 2 million pounds of food and other non-perishable items each month to more than 800 nonprofit partner agencies. This year the demand for food is already over a half million pounds ahead of last year's need.

Over the past 5 months, the Food Bank has spent over $400,000 more than in the same 5 month period of last year. They have also found that 18% of the respondents from their on-going survey with partner agencies have reported having to turn people away and/or reduce the number of people/families served because of lack of food resources. They expect these needs to only increase as the summer approaches and children, over 20% of which live in poverty in Georgia, will not have access to school meals.

A1 is starting our efforts to help by collecting donations internally. We have collection barrel here at our office for employees to donate these much needed items. We will soon be reaching out to other businesses in Atlanta in hopes of helping with the increase need the Food Bank is currently experiencing.

Our goal is to collect 20 full barrels of food from across the city. Can you help?
